Berks Commissioner Candidates: Maria Bogdanova-Peifer
Recently, I reached out to the candidates in the Republican primary for Berks County Commissioner and asked them a few questions about what they stand for. As they get back to me, I will publish their answers. First up is Maria Bogdanova-Peifer. The questions are in bold, the candidate’s answers are below each question.
-How do you contrast yourself with the current incumbents, Leinbach and Rivera?
I stand for Integrity, transparency and accountability to people that elect me in any position whether it is School Board or any other. I serve THE PEOPLE and answer to God.
-What are your thoughts on the voting machine purchases that have been made over the past few years?
It is my understanding that machines were a mandated purchase. However, I personally wouldn't agree to spend tax payers money on any mandates that are not 100% covered by those who are pushing them. Furthermore, they can't force you to use anything that doesn't work properly. That goes for machines, tabulators and electronic poll books. If something doesn't work,- don't use it. You wouldn't release for use any cardiac equipment if it doesn't work with 100% certainty. It is ludicrous to treat the most important function of the country such as voting without an outmost scrutiny.
-What are your thoughts on the way our county handles drop boxes and mail-in ballots?
Drop boxes are unconstitutional just like Mail-in ballots have no chain of custody like absentee ballots do. I stand by constitution. I would fight back on things that contradict the constitution and have not gone through proper process of amending it. It is up to the Commissioners to defined where they stand and if they will or will not protect the constitution. That is my opinion that Commissioners didn't protect the right of the Citizens to secure election and what is outlined in both PA and USA constitutions
-Is there anything else you'd like the voters to know?
If you want the things going the same way as they have been, - then you should elect the same folks. You can’t do same things over and over and hope for different results. If they had let you down then you should have your voices heard and vote them out. Just because Leinbach has money (he does now) and Rivera is Latino shouldn't be the reasons to vote for them. Money and Race/Nationality vs Integrity and passion for this country. David Golowski and myself are in to fight back for what is right. Only 20% of all Registered Republicans vote in municipal elections. How do you expect good Candidates to win if you don't have the same commitment and passion to show up at the polls and give us a fighting chance over the establishment? There are good Judges like Josh Prince and Patricia McCollough are stepping up to preserve the Democracy in this country they too need your votes!
